When the islands of Regos and Coregos invade the island of Pingaree, Prince Inga is left behind with the magic pearls. Along with King Rinkitink and a goat named Bilbil, Prince Inga attempts to free the Pingareeans from their captivity. Eventually, Inga’s parents end up in the underground caverns of the Nome King Kaliko followed by Inga, Rinkitink, and Bilbil. In the end few of our old Oz friends arrive to attempt to put everything right.There was not nearly as much wordplay in Rinkitink in Oz, the tenth Oz book, compared to some of the previous ones. The story was entertaining, however, and is a nice addition to the Oz series. I recommend this book to people of all ages!

Once more, Mr. Baum continues to live on. This book is approx. 100 years old, but as part of his 14 Oz books the story continues. I never thought that the boys would want to keep reading the series. I made the assumption that the newer works would win over, and honestly sometimes they do. But they keep returning to this series wanting to know what is going to happen next.
`Rinktink' is a much better book than its predecessor. In this book we first visit Pingaree, an idyllic island which subsists on pearl farming and trade with nearby Gilgad, a mountainous territory bordering on the now-familiar territory of the Nome king. The title character visits the little island and gets caught up in an invasion by a hostile force. Together with his talking goat, Bilbil, he assists the island's Prince on a quest to save the island's citizens and the king and queen from certain harm. This quest takes them first to the invaders' islands and then to the kingdom of the Nome King, where eventual aid from Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz help to reunite the royal family. All the adventurers pay a brief visit to Ozma before returning to their rightful fplaces.
Most of the action in the series is forced outside of Oz now that all of the central characters are impervious to harm when they are in Oz. As the author is no longer forced to developed a contrived adventure in well-worn territory, the story is much cleaner and the literary devices are the most respectable ones used in the series since `Emerald City's pun chapters (e.g. the queens are named for their islands, etc.). This book presents a good story for parents to read to young children over multiple nights.
its a book. you read it and figure out for yourself if you like it or not. its not the new best seller. its a tried and true classic. you either know what you are getting or you dont. honestly if i knew i would be asked to review free movies and books i would have probably not gotten them in the first place. i dont have to review but writting reviews is the only way to keep the list short and manageable to gain access to the things that a review is truly vaild for.
Horrible. These books are just bad. For under 200 pages, it seemed to last forever. I wanted to read the whole series, but we may have to stop this madness.
I love the Oz stories and hate to suggest that this may not be a real Oz story but it is a hard fact to ignore in light of the non-Oz adventure that transpires. If not for the ending that ties the Nome King, Dorthy and the Wizard of Oz to the rest of the story I would be inclined to think this is just a well written adventure story by L. Frank Baum. It definitely has Baum's style written all over it but the vast majority of the story happens outside of Oz. It is a wonderful adventure story that has great characters such as King Rinkitink, Bilbil and Inga and a fantastic plot that makes it a feel good read. A wonderfully good book even if it is only an Oz story by brief association.
This review is for the physical edition of the book, not the content of the story. The story is the usual L. Frank Baum excellence, but this particular edition of the book is poorly put together. It arrived much larger than expected. The illustrations look as though they were scanned at a low resolution and then enlarged at the same low resolution, resulting in low-quality illustrations. The spacing and formatting of text is such that the chapter titles somehow ended up on their own pages and not on the pages that actually start the chapters. Do not consider this edition of this book. Keep looking for a better-quality edition.
There are no pictures in this edition at all. Most, maybe all, of the original editions did have some pictures, which I would have liked to have seen. Also, as with the other free editions in this series, there are many typographical errors, mainly misspellings. There is also the occasional bit of text that's randomly bold for no apparent reason. I suspect that a printed copy of the book was scanned and run through OCR, with no follow-up accuracy check.
The story itself is pretty good. Although all of this series is clearly written for children, it's entertaining enough for adults to enjoy reading as well. But as an adult, I couldn't help but notice that many of the characters in all of these Oz stories, including the central characters, are often conceited, arrogant, and rude, yet at the same time, quite polite about it.
